News Roman Reigns’ Injury At WWE SummerSlam – Despite sustaining an injury during his Tribal Combat Match against Jey Uso at the WWE SummerSlam premium live event, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is not expected to miss any time from television due to the injury.
The match, which was the main event at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, played a crucial role in the ongoing narrative of The Bloodline storyline. Jimmy Uso’s interference cost his brother Jey the match, allowing Reigns to retain his title.
The injury incident occurred during the match when Jey Uso executed an outside dive and landed on the back of Reigns, leading to the injury. Footage of the incident has circulated, depicting the moment. Fortunately, Reigns is scheduled to appear on the upcoming SmackDown episode for a segment called “Hail The Tribal Chief” alongside Jimmy Uso.
According to Dave Meltzer’s report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Reigns suffered either a hip or back injury due to the top-rope maneuver performed by Jey Uso approximately five minutes into the main event match. Despite the injury, it seems that Reigns’ presence on television will remain uninterrupted.
It’s unclear whether the injury will impact WWE’s plans for him at future PLEs, including next month’s Payback.
