Backstage Update On Dakota Kai Status – Despite her ongoing recovery from an ACL injury that has sidelined her for a significant period, Dakota Kai of Damage CTRL will continue to be a part of SmackDown’s lineup.
Even though she’s still on the mend, Dakota Kai made a special appearance at WWE SummerSlam, joining Bayley and IYO SKY in celebrating SKY’s triumphant Money in the Bank contract cash-in and subsequent Women’s Championship victory. During a post-show press conference, Kai clarified that she has not fully healed from her injury, and she reiterated this during a recent livestream.
According to PWInsider, Dakota Kai is back on the road and is set to have a regular presence at SmackDown TV tapings. However, this deviates from WWE’s initial plans for her after her SummerSlam appearance. It’s important to note that Kai hasn’t been cleared for physical activities, whether it’s in-ring competition or taking bumps. In a recent episode of SmackDown, Damage CTRL was involved in an altercation with Bianca Belair backstage, but Dakota Kai refrained from any physical actions beyond holding a steel chair.
Kai had suffered a torn ACL during a tag team match that also involved IYO SKY against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. It’s reported that Kai got injured during a sequence where she was trying to protect Morgan, who had hurt her shoulder earlier in the match. Despite her injury, Kai’s commitment to her role and presence on SmackDown is noteworthy.
