8/17 MLW Fusion Results – The latest episode of MLW Fusion began with an engaging hype package, setting the stage for the upcoming Opera Cup finals scheduled for later in the broadcast.
Jacob Fatu defeated Rickey Shane Page to retain the MLW National Openweight Championship
- While brawling outside of the ring, Rickey Shane Page shoved the referee to the ground. The referee had no choice but to disqualify him and awarded the victory to Jacob Fatu. The two men continued to brawl up the aisleway despite the match being over.
We hear from Tracy Williams backstage ahead of his match with Davey Boy Smith Jr. later on tonight. Williams says his head is on what got him here, being the best professional wrestler in the ring. Tracy says more people in this business are attracted to the pageantry of the business than the actual in-ring work. Williams puts Smith Jr. over as someone who is the latter.
There is a video package that teases something will take place on next week’s show regarding entering a realm.
The card for MLW Fury Road continues to come together
The commentary team announces that Jacob Fatu and Rickey Shane Page will have a rematch for the National Openweight Championship at Fury Road in a Weapons of Mass Destruction match.
We hear from Matt Cardona at his pool. Cardona says his match with Mance Warner is just business and that he has no heat with him. Cardona says he’s not coming to steal his spot, he has his own spot. The Indy God said he’s coming for MLW for money and himself.
Delmi Exo defeated Paris Van Dale to retain the MLW World Women’s Featherweight Champion
- Delmi Exo hit the Delmi Driver on Paris Van Dale to retain her title.
B3CCA attacks Delmi Exo after the match and smashes her with a guitar. She grabs the championship and poses with it before dropping it on Exo and leaving.
We hear from MLW World Champion Alex Kane. Kane says MLW isn’t even stacking the deck against him at Fury Road. Alex calls Willie Mack the Grimace of professional wrestling. Kane says Mack’s in a food champ eating burgers and chicken nuggets. Alex wants a warmup match in Mexico before we get to Fury Road.
Davey Boy Smith Jr. (w/ MSL) defeated Tracy Williams to win the Opera Cup Finals
- Davey Boy Smith Jr. locks a crossface on Tracy Williams to win the match via submission.
MSL and Davey Boy Smith Jr. are interviewed on the stage after the win. MSL says the only thing that would make this win better was if it was done in London or Calgary. Davey Boy Smith Jr. runs down the crowd as MLW Fusion goes off the air.
