Tony Khan On AEW Dynamite Possibly Moving To a Three Hour Show – During the ROH Death Before Dishonor media call, Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics asked Khan whether he would be open to a third hour of AEW Dynamite after a three-hour block of live television with Collision and Battle of the Belts VII.

“Interesting question. It’s something I’d have to think about a lot,” Tony Khan said. “It’s a great question. Looking at the ratings, I think we all got the same data today. I was looking at the chart, I was a little confused when I got it back because you may not have seen it yet, but in the top 10, they actually have Collision and Battle of the Belts both listed twice in the top ten. Both shows in the top five and then again in the top 10.

“I’m not sure if that’s because of the power outage and the hail storm,m and they got listed as separate shows, but normally, the west coast feed are part of the national ratings, so I’m not sure what that’s about. No matter what, the ratings were very strong and positive for the three-hour block of television, and I’m trying to ascertain what those replay numbers mean.

“Regardless, I think it was a very, very strong number, and I’m trying to figure out if it was even stronger on the surface. The three-hour block is not something we’ve ever done before; it was the first time we ever tried it. It did very well, it held up very well, and it’s something wrestling companies are doing every week. I can’t comment as to whether it’s something we plan doing on a regular basis in the future, but I would certainly say I would expect, based on the success of that number, that Battle of the Belts, in future quarters, would make sense after Collision. The first time we did three hours of live television, I know it was considered a success by the network.

“So now the question is, is that something we would want to do going forward? I’ll have to talk to them about it. The numbers just came in, and we’re still digging through them. So it’s something to analyze and think about, but certainly, as a three-hour block of wrestling on Saturday night, it did very well, and I’m not sure what that would mean for future weekends or Wednesdays, but I do think on a weekly basis, we found a really good rhythm with two hours of Dynamite, two hours of Collision, and now one hour of Rampage too, and how those hours are allocated, it’s something to certainly think about, but I’m glad that it went well this weekend and gave people something to think about.”
