IMPACT! on AXS TV Results (4/13) – During the BTI pre show, George Iceman talked about Mickie James requesting in ring time tonight to discuss if she was going to be able to defend her title at Rebellion.

El Reverso defeated Johnny Swinger (w/ Zicky Dice)

Johnny Swinger was delighted at a section of the fans cheering for him, pumping his fist like a geek. It was awesome. Gia Miller said she hoped Swinger could get his first win in his road to 50 in less than 480 days. The fans started chanting “Johnny sucks!” and Gia said, “Reverso turned it all around.” That was clever. Gia Miller noted that Swinger almost challenged her before he ended up challenging Jai Vidal a few weeks ago, and said that she was mean, so it would have been a bad idea. Dice tried to get a USA chant going in Canada after Swinger wrestled the “American way” (in Dice’s words) and low blowed Reverso. Windsor booed the USA chant. Swinger charged Reverso, who dodged, and almost hit Dice. Reverso hit an O’Connor roll on Swinger for the pinfall.

Impact Wrestling Main Card

The show opened with a fantastic video package for hyping the women’s title match for Rebellion, and recapping Josh Alexander giving up the title last week, leading into the Rebellion main event between KUSHIDA and Steve Maclin.

Kenny King (w/ Team Bully) defeated Frankie Kazarian (w/ Team Dreamer)

King and Kazarian had an excellent match here with King being able to keep Kazarian on the back foot early on after hitting a twisting slam into a back breaker. Kazarian fought out of a camel clutch and hit his spring board leg drop for a 2-count on King. Kazarian went for the chicken wing, but King forced him backwards into the corner and hit a sunset flip for a 2-count.

King hit a tiger driver for a 2-count. Brian Myers ran down and got onto the apron and distracted the referee as Kazarian had the chicken wing on King. The announcers were confused by Myers getting involved, as he is not on Team Bully, at least as of yet. Moose ran in and speared Kazarian, leading to King getting the pinfall.

Moose and Myers posed with Team Bully after beating down all of Team Dreamer, and the battle is looking like it is 7 on 5 right now.

–Steve Maclin interrupted the Canadian National anthem (Oh Canada! My home and native land!) and claimed there wasn’t anyone in Impact that could beat him, and KUSHIDA ran out and started brawling with him. Security tried to separate the two, but they kept brawling, and KUSHIDA knocked Maclin off the apron onto all the security guards. Good angle. Nothing fancy, but it worked.

Laredo Kid defeated Lince Dorado, Rich Swann, and Black Taurus

This was super fast paced, and it was wonderful to see Laredo Kid back after his horrific injuries a few months back. He went from a life threatening injury to being able to wrestle again in this awesome match, and it was amazing to see. Taurus was given a ton in this match to impress before losing, which was designed to protect him.

This match was wild, with Taurus being a stand out in it, throwing people all around the ring. Taurus hit a pop up Samoan drop on Dorado, choke slammed Laredo Kid onto Rich Swann, hit a brutal torture rack back breaker on Dorado, and then powerbombed Dorado over the top rope onto Swann. Lardeo Kid hit a snap crucifix driver for a 2-count. Kid tried to charge Taurus, but he just hit him with a ton of knees. Both men went to the top rope and Kid managed to hit a Spanish fly off the top rope on Taurus for the pinfall.

–Rosemary and Jessicka were backstage, and Rosemary attempted to enter the undead realm to retrieve “The Valkyrie” as Rosemary called her. Rosemary convinced Jessicka that she shouldn’t enter the undead realm as it was too dangerous, but she could hold the line here. Rosemary tried to enter, and the casket she would walk through did not let her. Her access has been cut off by black magic. Rosemary indicated that they needed to rethink their strategy.

Taylor Wilde (w/ KiLynn King) defeated Jessicka (w/ Rosemary)

I am really not into this feud at all. This match was actually fine though. Nothing great, but a perfectly acceptable TV match.

Wilde was intimidated by Jessicka when her strikes caused little effect, but she was able to lure Jessicka into the corner and hit a few offensive moves. Jessicka ended with Wilde on her shoulders, but Wilde slipped out and hit a back stabber. Jessicka recovered quickly and hit a bionic elbow and a running low crossbody on a seated Wilde for a 2-count. Wilde took advantage of a distraction from KiLynn King and Rosemary fighting on the floor, leading to Wilde hitting a Fisherman’s neckbreaker for the win.

–Jordynne Grace cut a promo about facing Deonna and potentially Mickie James for the Knock Out’s title at Rebellion. This was very good.

–Aisha Edwards and Eddie Edwards talked about PCO, and how she was there to support him and see this through unto PCO was dead. Well then.

–Dango and Hendry came down to the ring and Hendry did his usual prematch promo, and Dango got the catchphrase of “We believe!” correct this time. Fans still really like Hendry, but he needs some more upward momentum to capitalize on it.

Joe Hendry & Dirty Dango defeated The Design (Callihan & Angels) (w/ Kon & Deaner)

This was a decent tag match, but really served as a vehicle for this bad Callihan angle. Callihan tried to help Angels, accidentally hit him, and as he was yelling with Deaner, Angels got hit with Hendry’s standing ovation for the pinfall.

–The Design attacked after the match and as the beat down went on, Santino Marella’s music hit and he ran down and helped Deaner and Dango take out The Design. Nothing like being taken out by Santino to show you’re a big time heel.

–The excellent KUSHIDA/Maclin video package aired again.

–PCO cut a promo about how he couldn’t die and he was coming to face Eddie Edwards at Rebellion.

–Bully Ray cut a promo about his team, saying Moose and Myers were new additions, and that they were going to destroy Team Dreamer at Rebellion. They were not a family or club, but one in purpose in ending Tommy Dreamer in Hardcore War.

Tasha Steelz defeated Gisele Shaw (w/ Savannah Evans & Jai Vidal)

Shaw immediately rolled out of the ring and asked for a makeup touch up from Vidal. Steelz hit a forearm that sent Shaw back to the floor. Shaw managed to send Steelz to the floor and distract the referee so that Evans could hit a chokeslam on the apron. Shaw locked on a camel clutch on Steelz for a minute or so. Steelz fought out with elbows and forearms, but ate a knee from Shaw in response.

Shaw charged the corner, caught the legs of Steelz, and hit a rope draping double stomp on Steelz. Shaw hit a spinning suplex for a 2-count on Steelz. Shaw had a chin lock, but Steelz fought out and hit several forearms. Steelz went for a neckbreaker, but it ended up pulling Shaw by the hair more than anything. Steelz hit a basement dropkick for a 2-count. Steelz went for a springboard bulldog, but Shaw countered and hit a lariat to the back of Steelz head for a 2-count.

Steelz went for the Black Out, but Shaw countered. Steelz kicked Shaw off the apron and then went for a dive, but Shaw moved. A brawl erupted on the floor with Shaw and Steelz exchanging forearms. Evans and Vidal distracted Steelz and Shawn threw Steelz into the steps. Shawn went for a running knee, but Steelz moved and Shaw hit the steel steps instead! Shaw showed some excellent selling here, leading to Steelz dropkicking the knee. Steelz was able to pin shaw after a jackknife pinfall.

–Kevin Kelly joined to hype up NJPW on AXS, talking about Aussie Open vs. Bishimon, and Okada vs. SANADA, both excellent matches.

–Mickie James was backstage and Santino came up. Santino asked if James was ready, and James said that the doctor just called.

–Everyone left the building, at James’ request, even the fans, which was a bit of an odd request. Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt ran down the card for Rebellion backstage before James’ promo.

–The video for the Rebellion Knock Out’s title match again.

–Mickie James was in the empty arena, and talked about how the Last Rodeo proved that James could still fight. James said that any Knock Out in the back could beat her, and she would be happy to lose in the ring. James said that she wasn’t 20 years old again, but was getting older. As she was talking, they cut to a shot to Deonna Purrazzo watching in the back with Jordynne Grace. James said that she needed to do what was right for the locker room and the business, and that she was not cleared to compete at Rebellion. She then put the title down in the ring along with her hat. The match is official, Deonna Purrazzo vs. Jordynne Grace for the Knock Out’s title. The show ended with the camera silently zooming in on James’ title and hat in the ring, leaving us wonder if it is the last time we will see Mickie James.
