WWE Clash At The Castle Will Be The Largest Non-WrestleMania Gate In Wrestling History

WWE Clash at the Castle will be a historic event in several different ways. It’s slated to be the first major PPV event to be held in the United Kingdom since SummerSlam 1992. It broke WWE’s record for having more fans registering for pre-sale tickets than any event in history and that includes WrestleMania.

Dave Meltzer noted in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the September 3rd event from Cardiff’s Principality Stadium had strong initial ticket sales as they sold just over 40,000 tickets in the first week after selling 30,000 in the pre-sale and about 10,000 more on the first day to the public.

A true sellout for that stadium would be 69,000, roughly 10,000 more than each night of WrestleMania 38 did in April. It was said WWE officials were very happy with the sales numbers as it “will be the largest non-WrestleMania gate in the history of pro wrestling and actually beat most WrestleManias for that matter.”

WWE increased the prices of the tickets because of the strong demand among fans and that’s why the gate is so high. Current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is still advertised for the show and WWE does have a tentative opponent for him lined up.
