Tony Khan Working On Something “Massive” For AEW – On today’s Busted Open Radio, Tony Khan said that he has something “massive” in the works for AEW and he hopes to be able to talk about it next week.
“There will be a lot of news in the week ahead,” Khan said. “I don’t know if I’ll get it done by tonight but stay tuned in the week ahead. I’m working on something pretty big. It would be massive. I don’t know if it’s what anybody would expect it is or think it is but this would be a big deal in pro wrestling. I’m looking forward to hopefully making it happen. Stay tuned. I hopefully will get it done and will have more to announce soon.”
Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that it is expected that both Jeff Hardy and Shane Strickland (Isiah “Swerve Scott) will be signing soon. In the case of Hardy, he needs to wait a couple of weeks for his WWE non-compete to expire and there have already been some hints on TV about him and Matt has talked about wanting one last run with his brother.
Other ex-WWE star who is believed to be headed to AEW soon is Buddy Matthews (formerly Buddy Murphy) as part of Malakai Black’s stable.
Khan did not say if this is related to rumors about more WWE talent coming in or something completely unrelated to new signings.
We’ll post updates on this when we hear more.
