WWE has locked down another wrestler to a new contract and that’s AJ Styles. There had been rumblings last month that Styles was in contract talks with the company.
Fightful Select reported today that a deal has been reached as he signed a multi-year deal.
His original contract was set to expire in the spring/summer, which would have made him a free agent for the first time since leaving NJPW in 2016. WWE expected interest from other promotions so they wanted to get a new deal done before he could legally talk with anyone else.
It was said Styles is said to be very happy in the company as he has publicly stated that he would like to work for WWE when his time as an active in-ring performer is over.
Per the report, Styles’ deal is over $3 million a year. Sources told the media outlet that “he deserved every penny,” and “would easily make that back for the company.” It was added that Styles has some additional bus travel accommodations paid for.
As previously reported, WWE also recently re-signed Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
