Update on The NXT Role at WrestleMania, Number of Matches Planned, More
As noted, WWE is making some major changes to their plans for WrestleMania 36 and two big matches are no longer on the card.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE is currently planning 14 matches for the show of shows this year. He went on to say that much of the SmackDown side still seems up in the air.
“Yeah, the SmackDown side of things I would say that either every match on the SmackDown match is going to change or is in danger of changing. I don’t think there’s one that’s solid anymore as far as the Mania thing goes. I head that everything’s up in the air on SmackDown. I heard the same thing from several people.”

“What that means I don’t know. I mean when I look at Bray Wyatt if Wyatt beats Goldberg then who else is he facing? I guess it could be Cena, you could put him heel, but what heels would he go against? They’re definitely pushing Sheamus. I suppose you could put him against Braun Strowman. You could. I guess you could. He’s been protected.”
Last year’s WrestleMania event in MetLife Stadium featured 16 matches including four kickoff show matches. It wasn’t noted by Meltzer if those 14 matches includes the kickoff show.

Meltzer also cleared up speculation that WWE will add another NXT match to the WrestleMania 36 card. Apart from Rhea Ripley it appears that no other NXT Superstars will be wrestling at the event.
“There’s 14 matches on the card and there are no other NXT guys on the card unless, of course, plans change which they obviously can at any time. The card that’s out doesn’t have any other NXT personalities other than Rhea Ripley.”
It's possible that NXT Superstars will be used in the 7th Annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal or the 3rd Annual WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal, but the current direction has Ripley being the main NXT representative at WrestleMania 36.

The NXT roster will get their chance to shine during WrestleMania 36 Weekend at the big "Takeover: Tampa" event on Saturday, April 4 at the Amalie Arena.
