On this week’s episode of NXT, they did an angle with Velveteen Dream being attacked by The Undisputed Era. William Regal then said Dream would not be back in the ring for a long time.
It turns out that Dream has been dealing with an injury. Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Dream has been dealing with a back injury for some time and it got serious enough that the call was made to pull him off the road.
Dream was scheduled to face Roderick Strong on 10/23 in a rematch for the NXT North American Championship. On this week’s show, Dominik Dijakovic and Keith Lee wrestled to determine the new number 1 contender for the North American title but there was no winner declared because of Strong’s interference. Dijakovic and Lee will both challenge for the title next week in a Triple Threat Match. Lee’s status for the match is questionable because WWE is saying that he is suffered a lower back injury.
