The early creative roadmap for WWE’s biggest show of the year is starting to leak, and one heavily rumored blockbuster matchup is reportedly off the table.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the showdown between Roman Reigns and Oba Femi is the current direction for one of the marquee headliners at WrestleMania 43 in April 2027.
However, despite recent internet speculation pointing toward Cody Rhodes squaring off against CM Punk in the other major main event slot, those rumors are reportedly inaccurate.
Meltzer confirmed that while the massive Reigns vs. Femi clash is actively locked in, the heavily discussed Rhodes vs. Punk bout is not part of the current WWE WrestleMania 43 plans.
Insiders note that keeping Rhodes and Punk apart makes sense on television since their high-stakes SummerSlam championship battle on August 1.
With Reigns currently dominating as the World Heavyweight Champion on RAW and Sami Zayn sitting at the top of the mountain as the Undisputed WWE Champion on SmackDown, management has plenty of moving pieces.
As always, internal WWE WrestleMania 43 plans are highly likely to change multiple times due to potential injuries or creative shifts before the roster officially heads to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
