The blue brand heads into Sacramento, California, as WWE SmackDown emanates live from the Golden 1 Center on October 16. With tensions reaching a boiling point following recent events, tonight’s broadcast features high-stakes grudge matches and a major confrontation between former allies.
Airing live on USA Network, the show centers around fallout from recent personal rivalries alongside championship action.
Key Matches and Segments Announced for Tonight
WWE has officially advertised four major focal points for Friday’s broadcast:
- Cody Rhodes Demands Randy Orton’s Presence: Following escalation in their personal rivalry, Cody Rhodes has requested that SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis bring Randy Orton to the ring for a direct, face-to-face confrontation.
- Paige vs. Nikki Bella: Paige steps back into the ring with WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella in a high-profile rematch. The bout follows their controversial encounter last month, where Bella leveraged the ropes to secure a tainted victory.
- Damian Priest vs. R-Truth: Former tag team partners clash as bitter enemies after engaging in a heated backstage confrontation during last week’s broadcast.
- AAA Cruiserweight Championship Match: Reigning champion Rey Fenix defends his title against “Absolute” Ricky Saints. Saints secured the opportunity after pinning Fenix during a Six-Man Tag Team Match on October 2 alongside The War Raiders.
