The match card for AEW WrestleDream 2026 continues to take shape following major match announcements on the October 14 episode of AEW Dynamite & Collision, where a major championship bout was officially added to the lineup.
Tommaso Ciampa is set to challenge Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship on Saturday, October 17, at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington.
Tag Team Victory Pinpoints Next Contender
The title match was set in motion after Ciampa scored momentum in tag team action earlier in the broadcast:
- Tag Team Momentum: Ciampa teamed up with Samoa Joe to defeat the high-profile team of Andrade El Idolo and Will Ospreay.
- Capitalizing On The Pin: Following the pinfall victory, AEW officialized Ciampa as the next immediate challenger for El Idolo’s National Championship.
- Second Title Opportunity: This marks Ciampa’s second major championship pursuit in recent months, following his unsuccessful challenge against Kazuchika Okada for the AEW International Championship at AEW All Out.
With Andrade El Idolo forced to defend his title against a battle-tested Ciampa, WrestleDream promises another intense physical collision in AEW’s midcard division.
