Industry veteran and AEW executive Christopher Daniels believes professional wrestling fans should appreciate the entire industry rather than fueling internet rivalries between competing promotions.
Appearing on the Going Ringside podcast, the 32-year veteran addressed the fan tribalism that often divides the wrestling community. While acknowledging WWE’s historic longevity, Daniels praised All Elite Wrestling’s continued growth and weekly television product:
Listen, if you’re a professional wrestling fan, I think you should support all professional wrestling. And, you know, WWE is the oldest game in the game. They’re the oldest group in the game, but AEW is coming along strong. AEW is great, and hopefully, if you like professional wrestling, AEW presents tremendous professional wrestling week in and week out.
Daniels encouraged open-mindedness among fans who have yet to sample AEW, noting that the company continues to expand its audience base:
So, if you’re against that, I don’t know what to tell you. Go watch something else. That’s fine. But we’ve got plenty of fans, and we’re bringing more fans along the way, and I look forward to showing them professional wrestling each and every week.
Daniels launched his professional wrestling career in 1993, competing across major organizations including WCW, ECW, and WWE. He achieved main-event star status in TNA Wrestling, where he became a three-time X Division Champion and a cornerstone of the company’s tag team and singles divisions.
Following his TNA departure in 2014, Daniels captured the ROH World Championship before joining AEW in 2019 as both an active competitor in SoCal Uncensored and head of talent relations. Daniels officially retired from in-ring competition on January 18, 2025, following a violent Texas Death Match against “Hangman” Adam Page on AEW Collision.
