Former World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins has been conspicuously absent from WWE television following his showdown against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2026, but a new backstage report confirms his hiatus is purely creative.
Speaking on WrestleVotes Radio, it was revealed that WWE creative has fully fleshed-out return plans lined up and ready to execute for Rollins. Rather than dealing with an injury recovery, the company is simply waiting for the optimal storyline moment to reintroduce “The Visionary” to television.
While no official return date has been announced, sources note that Rollins’ television comeback should not be far off, especially considering he recently returned to in-ring competition during WWE’s South American tour.
Money In The Bank Direction Shifts For Rollins And CM Punk
Initial internal creative discussions had Rollins slated for a prominent role at WWE Money in the Bank 2026 on October 10 in New Orleans. However, those plans have reportedly shifted in recent days, leaving his availability for the Premium Live Event up in the air.
The change in direction comes alongside parallel reports regarding CM Punk. Punk had also been internally penciled in for the New Orleans event, but his participation is no longer considered a certainty at this time.
With both Rollins and Punk’s availability for Money in the Bank entering a state of flux, WWE creative continues to fine-tune the match card as the October event draws near.
