Roman Reigns Retains World Heavyweight Championship After Defeating Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2026

Roman Reigns survived a brutal battle against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2026 Night 2, defeating his former Shield brother after hitting three Spears to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

The main event was built around years of history between Reigns and Rollins, and both men delivered a physical match that pushed them to their limits. The rivalry between two former Shield members reached another chapter as they battled through the crowd, destroyed both announce tables, and used each other’s signature moves throughout the contest.

Rollins came close to capturing the championship after connecting with a Pedigree and a Stomp, but Reigns continued to survive. The champion responded with his own offensive attacks, including a Superman Punch, a Spear, and even Rollins’ own Stomp, but none of those moves were enough to end the match.

The action became even more chaotic when the referee was taken out. Reigns delivered a DDT as a tribute to their former Shield teammate Jon Moxley before accidentally knocking out the official with a Spear.

Rollins attempted to capitalize, hitting another Stomp, but there was no referee available to make the count.

The challenger then grabbed a steel chair, but Reigns stopped him before he could use it. Instead of continuing with the weapon, the two began exchanging punches in the center of the ring. Rollins once again gained momentum by hitting another Pedigree and Stomp, but Reigns refused to stay down.

Rollins went for a Super Stomp, but Reigns avoided the attack and immediately connected with two Spears. With the original referee still unable to continue, another official arrived in the ring.

Reigns wasted no time and delivered a third Spear, finally securing the victory.

The win allows Roman Reigns to leave SummerSlam still holding the World Heavyweight Championship after one of the toughest defenses of his reign.

Seth Rollins gave everything he had and came within moments of becoming champion, but Reigns found the opening he needed and once again proved why he remains one of WWE’s most dominant stars.
