Netflix Eager For Big Names And Marquee Matches Following WWE RAW Mexico City Success

Netflix executives are reportedly thrilled with the performance of WWE RAW following its special international broadcast from Mexico City earlier this month, signaling a desire for even bigger star power moving forward.

The September 14 edition of WWE RAW—which broadcast live from Arena CDMX—generated over three million global views on the platform. The impression made by those metrics was particularly notable internally given that the episode went head-to-head with the opening week of the NFL’s Monday Night Football.

According to Fightful Select, streaming executives at Netflix were especially enthusiastic about the viewership metrics produced by the Mexico City showcase. The strong performance has led Netflix to encourage WWE creative to feature top-tier attractions and premium marquee matches on RAW on a more consistent basis as the platform looks to sustain and build upon that momentum.

The September 14 show was headlined by a World Heavyweight Championship defense featuring Roman Reigns against Penta, alongside an appearance by new Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer.

With Netflix pushing for high-profile star power to anchor the red brand’s weekly lineup, fans can likely expect continued main-event level booking as WWE continues its landmark run on the global streaming giant.
