TNA Wrestling shifted its championship landscape on August 23 at TNA Lockdown 2026, crowning three new titleholders during a chaotic night inside the Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago.
The title changes began in the X-Division as Leon Slater defeated Cedric Alexander in a Last Man Standing match to capture the X-Division Championship. Later in the evening, Mustafa Ali regained the TNA International Championship from Jason Hotch in a grueling cage match, setting up a busy night of title shifts ahead of the main event.
The Nemeths Capture Tag Titles; Slater Invokes Option C
In the main event, Nic and Ryan Nemeth dethroned Matt and Jeff Hardy to capture the TNA World Tag Team Championship. The Hardys appeared to have the upper hand after putting Ryan Nemeth through a table, but Nic capitalized on the distraction, hitting his signature Danger Zone to secure the pinfall victory.
As the Nemeth brothers celebrated their victory, new X-Division Champion Leon Slater interrupted the moment. Slater declared that he will officially exercise Option C at Bound for Glory to challenge Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Championship. When the new tag team champions attempted a physical attack, Slater laid out both brothers to close out the broadcast.
Mustafa Ali Uses Mind Games to Reclaim International Title
Mustafa Ali’s path to the TNA International Championship featured heavily controversial tactics against Jason Hotch. The match turned when Hotch leaped from the top of the cage to the floor, driving Ali through a table. Despite suffering a mouth injury in the crash, Hotch continued to fight until Ali targeted Hotch’s family at ringside, taking a stuffed toy from Hotch’s daughter and setting it on fire.
A furious Hotch rushed back into the ring to recover the toy, but the distraction allowed Ali to deliver a 450 splash. When Hotch refused to release the charred toy, Ali executed a second 450 splash to secure the pinfall and regain the title. Following the event, officials confirmed that Hotch will team with Trey Miguel to face Ali and Agent Zero on Thursday’s broadcast on AMC.
