WWE’s newest Japanese tag team officially has a name as Shinsuke Nakamura and Kyoki (formerly Hiromu Takahashi in NJPW) prepare to make their mark on the tag team division.
According to a report from False Finish, the duo is expected to be known as Bakusai. WWE filed a trademark for the term on June 26, which roughly translates from Japanese to “blasting to pieces.” The name was subtly teased during last week’s SmackDown, where a vignette officially introduced Kyoki alongside Nakamura, ending with the former NJPW star exclaiming the word.
Decorated Junior Heavyweight Prepares for Main Roster Action
Kyoki arrived in WWE following a decorated career in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he established himself as a multi-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion before leaving the promotion in February.
He gave WWE fans a first look at his in-ring skill prior to the August 24 episode of RAW, securing a victory over Kit Wilson in a dark match.
Setting Sights on The MFTs and Tag Team Gold
Nakamura and Kyoki are set to bolster the SmackDown tag team division, where they have already targeted WWE Tag Team Champions The MFTs (Tama and Talla Tonga).
The Tongans—who also share a rich history in NJPW—captured the titles on the August 14 episode of SmackDown and recently completed a successful title defense against former champions Damian Priest and R-Truth. With personal history and championship gold on the line, a collision between the two international powerhouse teams appears inevitable.
