Shinsuke Nakamura appears to have dropped a major hint about his next WWE tag team partner after another segment was removed from the August 14 episode of WWE SmackDown.
The development comes shortly after WWE also cut a planned Paige promo from the same show. That decision sparked considerable discussion online, and Nakamura’s segment appears to have suffered a similar fate. WWE later posted the footage on X after the broadcast had ended.
In the digital exclusive, Nakamura addressed Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga following their WWE Tag Team Championship victory. While congratulating the brothers, Nakamura made it clear that he is preparing for a new alliance.
Shinsuke Nakamura and Hiromu Takahashi as Tag Team?
Nakamura has been involved in an ongoing rivalry with Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga for several weeks. During the unaired footage, he acknowledged their championship victory but quickly shifted the focus toward his own plans.
Nakamura stated that his partner is coming and claimed that this person possesses the qualities Tama and Talla only pretend to have. He then described his upcoming partner as “chaos” and a “ticking time bomb.”
Those comments immediately drew attention because of the nickname associated with Hiromu Takahashi.
Takahashi finished his run with New Japan Pro-Wrestling in February and has been widely expected to eventually sign with WWE. He is well known in professional wrestling as “The Ticking Time Bomb,” making Nakamura’s wording particularly notable.
While Nakamura did not directly name his partner in the digital exclusive, the reference has naturally led to speculation that Takahashi could be the person joining him in WWE.
The potential pairing would also make sense within the current storyline. Nakamura has been at odds with Tama and Talla Tonga, while the two brothers have continued to establish themselves as a team in WWE.
Tama and Talla reached the top of the WWE tag team division by capturing the WWE Tag Team Championships on tonight’s SmackDown. They defeated Damian Priest and R-Truth, as well as the War Raiders’ Erik and Ivar, in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match.
Their victory gives Nakamura an even stronger reason to target the new champions. However, his comments suggest that he may no longer be planning to confront them alone.
The mention of “chaos” and a “ticking time bomb” has made the identity of Nakamura’s potential partner one of the most interesting questions coming out of the show. Takahashi’s established nickname makes the connection difficult to ignore, although WWE has not officially confirmed that he is Nakamura’s future partner.
The fact that the segment was not included in the live broadcast but was later released digitally also adds attention to the angle. WWE has used digital exclusives to provide additional storyline material, and Nakamura’s comments appear designed to create interest in what comes next.
