Sami Zayn’s Hand Injury Confirmed as Legitimate

Sami Zayn’s latest injury is not part of a storyline. During a backstage segment on the August 7 edition of SmackDown, Zayn revealed that he has a broken bone in his hand. PWInsider confirmed the injury is legitimate and not something scripted for television.

Zayn delivered the news during a tense exchange with CM Punk, Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae. He made it clear that the injury was holding him back from acting on his frustration.

“I have a broken bone in my hand, but if I didn’t…” Zayn said. “Understand this, Punk. If I didn’t, I would break your face right now.”

Zayn’s Recent WWE Matches

Zayn hasn’t wrestled since SummerSlam Sunday on August 2. He competed in a four‑way match against Gunther, Finn Bálor and Kevin Owens to determine the No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship.

Before that, his last televised match came at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18, where he teamed with Gunther in a loss to Punk and Cody Rhodes. Earlier in the month, Zayn dropped the Undisputed WWE Championship to Punk on the July 6 edition of RAW.

The injury now explains his absence from the ring and adds another layer to his ongoing issues with Punk.
