Road Dogg has suggested that his political views were a factor in him being denied an opportunity with AEW. The former WWE executive made the claim on X, saying he believes his personal beliefs — and even his family’s — influenced the decision.
James wrote, “Actually, I was turned away because of my political/core beliefs. That happened IN AMERICA. I didn’t donate to or vote for Trump, BUT his old man did, why was I punished?” His comments quickly drew attention, adding a new layer to the ongoing conversation about his next move in wrestling.
Road Dogg’s TNA Discussions Have Hit a Wall
Road Dogg’s remarks about AEW come at a time when speculation has been swirling about his potential involvement with TNA. Reports in July indicated that negotiations between James and TNA had stalled, despite earlier signs that he might be joining the company’s creative team.
He had been linked to a possible role that could have seen him replace Tommy Dreamer, and his backstage appearance at Slammiversary only fueled those rumors. However, recent updates suggest that the two sides have not reached an agreement and are not close to finalizing one.
For now, Road Dogg remains in a holding pattern. His comments about AEW add another wrinkle to the story, but his future in wrestling — whether with TNA, AEW, or elsewhere — remains uncertain until negotiations resume or a new opportunity emerges.
