Road Dogg TNA Creative Talks Stall After Slammiversary

Brian “Road Dogg” James is no longer close to joining TNA Wrestling in a creative role, following stalled negotiations between both sides. Earlier reports around TNA Slammiversary in June suggested that James was expected to come in as part of the company’s creative team, but that move has yet to materialize.

James attended the Slammiversary pay-per-view, which initially fueled speculation about his involvement. However, he did not stay for the subsequent television tapings, as discussions were still ongoing at the time.

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, those talks have now slowed significantly, with no agreement currently in place.

“Talks with Brian James to come here [TNA] have stalled,” Dave Meltzer reported.

Road Dogg TNA Creative Talks Status Update

Meltzer also indicated that there is no immediate progress toward a deal between James and TNA.

“He didn’t make a deal and right now they don’t seem to be close to a deal.”

TNA’s current creative structure remains in place as a result. Hunter Johnston, known to fans as Delirious, continues to be part of the team alongside Eric Tompkins, who serves as Vice President of TV Production and Executive Creative Director. Tommy Dreamer, who had been a key creative contributor, exited the company ahead of Slammiversary in June.

James brings significant experience from his time in WWE, where he most recently worked as a co-lead writer for SmackDown before departing earlier this year. His potential addition was seen as a notable move, but for now, there is no indication that a deal will be completed soon.

The situation leaves TNA’s creative direction unchanged, with no immediate plans confirmed for James to join the promotion.
