Willow Nightingale returned to the top of All Elite Wrestling’s women’s division at Redemption 2026, defeating Thekla to capture the AEW Women’s World Championship in a physical and dramatic contest.
The match, held at the Bell Centre in Montreal, saw Nightingale start strong, using her power to control the early moments. She pressured the champion with aggressive offense, keeping Thekla on the defensive. However, the momentum shifted when Thekla began targeting Nightingale’s previously injured ear. The champion used submissions, strikes, and even bites to exploit the weakness and slow the challenger down.
Despite the focused attack, Nightingale fought back with determination. She delivered a series of clotheslines and followed up with a Death Valley Driver, earning several close near-falls. The intensity continued to build as both competitors pushed the pace, with outside attention also drawn to Mercedes Moné, who was shown watching from the crowd.
Thekla came close to retaining the title after countering some of Nightingale’s key offense. The match also saw interference from Skye Blue, who placed Thekla’s foot on the bottom rope to break up a pinfall and keep the champion in the match. Nightingale responded quickly, taking out Skye Blue with a powerbomb on the floor to remove the distraction.
In the final moments, Thekla connected with a spear and attempted to follow up, but missed a stomp that proved costly. Nightingale capitalized on the opening and rolled her up with a backslide to secure the three-count.
With the victory, Nightingale once again stands as AEW Women’s World Champion, marking another major achievement in her career. After the match, members of The Conglomeration joined her in the ring to celebrate the championship win.
