Steven Borden’s steady presence at AEW events appears to have turned into something more permanent. The son of WWE Hall of Famer Sting has been gaining experience in the ring for months, and new information suggests he may now be officially part of the company.
Steven Borden’s AEW Status and Growing Experience
Fightful Select reports that Borden is believed to be signed with AEW after becoming a regular behind the scenes and in dark matches. He has quietly built up a significant amount of ring time, working more than two dozen matches while continuing to develop under AEW’s system.
Late last year, Borden was already expected to land a deal with the company despite having only wrestled twice. Since then, he has added far more reps and has become a familiar face at AEW tapings, giving him the chance to grow without being rushed onto television.
Steven may not be the only member of the Borden family stepping into the wrestling world. His brother, Garrett Borden, has also begun training and has started working matches of his own. While there is no confirmation that Garrett has signed with AEW, he is reportedly someone the company is keeping an eye on as he continues developing.
Both Steven and Garrett were visible during Sting’s retirement run in AEW, including his final match at Revolution 2024. Their involvement during that period introduced them to AEW audiences, and Steven’s continued work behind the scenes suggests the company sees potential in him moving forward.
For now, Steven Borden’s path appears to be taking shape inside AEW, with more experience and opportunities likely coming as he continues to grow in the ring.
