Kenny Omega will defend the AEW World Championship against Kevin Knight at AEW Redemption, following a heated in-ring segment on the July 15 episode of AEW Dynamite.
The show featured a celebration for Omega after his recent title win, with the “Best Bout Machine” addressing the crowd. During the segment, Omega briefly interacted with The Young Bucks before being joined in the ring by Will Ospreay, who praised Omega for capturing the championship.
The moment was interrupted when Kevin Knight made his entrance. Known as “The Jet,” Knight reminded Omega that he was still owed an AEW World Championship opportunity dating back to MJF’s reign. Omega initially pushed back on the claim, but ultimately agreed to give Knight a title shot at AEW Redemption, stating that he was willing to grant the match.
Omega also addressed Knight’s association with the Don Callis Family, questioning his mindset and suggesting that there was still good in him. Knight responded by acknowledging Omega’s comments, but made it clear that he believes only greatness exists within him.
The segment quickly turned physical when Knight struck Omega with a microphone. Following the attack, Knight exited the ring as Ospreay moved in to protect the champion and chase him off.
The AEW World Championship match between Omega and Knight is now officially set for AEW Redemption, adding a high-profile title bout to the upcoming event.
