Recent developments in Lee’s personal life, including news of his divorce from Mia Yim, have led to renewed discussion about his career. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez addressed the situation and shared what he has heard from sources within the wrestling business.
“Everyone has been asking what’s going on with Keith Lee,” Alvarez said. “Is he ever coming back to AEW, and are we ever going to get that match with Swerve [Strickland]?”
Alvarez noted that Lee has been widely discussed backstage, especially in light of recent news.
“Well, all I can tell you is that, you know, this has been discussed within the business, obviously with this news coming out as well,” he explained. “There’s been a lot of talk about Keith Lee over the last couple of days.”
While he stressed that nothing is confirmed, Alvarez indicated that there is a growing belief among some that Lee may not return to wrestling.
“I’m not saying this 100 percent, okay? I’m not saying this 100 percent because I don’t know,” Alvarez continued. “But, from talking to people, the belief within the business is that Keith Lee is done. And we’re not talking like, you know, when he’s done with AEW, if that ever happens, he’ll go elsewhere — it is believed that he is likely just retired.”
Lee has not posted on social media since September 2025. Around that time, he told fans he would “certainly” wrestle again, though he admitted uncertainty about when that might happen.
