Just days after revealing he had to withdraw from AAA’s Verano de Escándalo due to a torn thumb ligament, Dragon Lee has shared a clearer update—and it’s obvious he’s doing everything possible to avoid surgery. Speaking on NotSam Wrestling, Lee explained the full extent of the injury after undergoing X‑rays and an MRI. The diagnosis wasn’t what he hoped for, but he’s determined to stay out of the operating room.

Lee said the first round of medical exams confirmed what he feared.
“I got X-rays, then an MRI. The doctor said I have a tear in my thumb. I’m like, ‘Damn.’ I wanted to wrestle.”
The injury itself isn’t the part that worries him most. It’s what comes next if surgery becomes the only option. Lee explained that going under the knife would sideline him for months at a time when he’s been gaining momentum in both WWE and AAA.
“I don’t know how long I will be out, but I don’t want to get surgery because if I get surgery, I’ll be out for 3-4 months, and I don’t want that.”
Instead, Lee is hoping for a different path. According to him, doctors have already told him that competing with the injury might still be possible, depending on how his thumb responds.
“They told me with this injury I can probably wrestle. Hopefully they will let me wrestle.”
Lee suffered the torn ligament during a recent episode of RAW. He later announced on Instagram that the injury forced him to withdraw from AAA’s Verano de Escándalo, where he had been scheduled to face Mecha Wolf and La Parka in a Triple Threat Latin American Championship Qualifier for TripleManía.
Right now, there is no official timetable for his return. Everything depends on whether doctors believe he can safely wrestle without surgery. What is clear, however, is that Lee is determined to avoid a long layoff and wants to get back in the ring as soon as he’s cleared.
If medical staff ultimately allow him to compete through the injury, Dragon Lee sounds ready to return immediately—doing whatever it takes to keep his momentum alive.
