The June 26 episode of WWE SmackDown surfaced online ahead of its scheduled airing, leading to a swift response from WWE and reported frustration within the company.
The show was taped earlier in the week on June 23 in London, England. While spoiler results had already circulated, the situation escalated when actual footage from the episode began appearing across multiple websites. WWE quickly acted to remove the content by issuing copyright takedown notices, which led to most of the leaked clips being taken offline.
WWE SmackDown June 26 leak
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the leak created “internal unhappiness within WWE this week,” as the full episode was reportedly available in several places online before its official broadcast. Johnson noted that the source of the leak remains unclear, but added that the situation understandably caused concern within the company.
Despite the issue, WWE is moving forward with the planned broadcast. The SmackDown episode will still air tonight on the USA Network as scheduled.
The company is also set to follow a similar approach next week. The July 3 episode of SmackDown will be taped in advance on Monday night after RAW. This schedule adjustment is designed to give WWE talent and staff time off during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
Several segments and matches have been confirmed for the June 26 show. WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is set to address Gunther and Sami Zayn, continuing the ongoing storyline involving top names on the roster. Trick Williams, the Men’s United States Champion, will prepare for a match against Ricky Saints.
In the women’s division, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Paige is scheduled to face Jacy Jayne in singles action. Jade Cargill will go one-on-one with Chelsea Green, while Giulia is set to compete against Kiana James.
The card also includes a match between Rey Fenix and Nathan Frazer, adding further in-ring action to the lineup.
While the leak has already revealed much of the episode to those who sought it out, WWE is proceeding with its original plans for the broadcast, with the focus now shifting back to the show itself.
