JBL Picks GUNTHER To Win WWE Night Of Champions Main Event

JBL has shared his prediction for the main event of WWE Night of Champions, and he believes GUNTHER will leave Saudi Arabia as the Undisputed WWE Champion.

Speaking on Something to Wrestle ahead of Saturday’s premium live event, the WWE Hall of Famer gave his pick for the triple threat match involving Cody Rhodes, GUNTHER, and Sami Zayn. JBL pointed to the match structure as a key factor, explaining that it creates flexibility in how the title can change hands.

“Give me GUNTHER,” JBL said. “In a triple threat match, so many things can happen that you have a reason for the babyface to have a b—- about it, because the babyface loses the title without being pinned. Now, all of a sudden, it’s a natural rematch that you have.”

JBL emphasized that the timing feels right for WWE to fully elevate GUNTHER to the top position in the company. He noted that GUNTHER has already been built as a dominant force and suggested that the next logical step is a world title run.

“GUNTHER is a guy they’ve been having to beat and retire everybody. At some point, you’ve got to put the main strap on him,” JBL said. “I hope, I think this is the time. I don’t know if it is or not. I’m a big fan of GUNTHER, and a big fan of Cody and Sami also, but give me GUNTHER to win this thing.”

The discussion also shifted to JBL’s past involvement with WWE’s international events, particularly the shows held in Saudi Arabia. Known for avoiding air travel, JBL revealed that he chose not to attend those events during his time with the company.

“Vince was like, ‘I’m not going to send you to Saudi, I know you don’t like to get on a plane,’” JBL recalled.

Despite that, he admitted that he now regrets not making the trip at least once and expressed interest in visiting the region in the future.

“I do kind of regret not going. I still want to go once, to see all the old biblical sites and see Saudi.”

With Night of Champions approaching, JBL’s comments add another perspective to the high-stakes main event, where the outcome could significantly impact WWE’s direction moving forward.
