Kendal Grey is the new NXT Women’s Champion after defeating Lola Vice at Great American Bash.
Kendal Grey captures NXT Women’s Championship
This match marked the first one-on-one title clash between Grey and Vice since their triple threat bout at Stand & Deliver, which also included Jacy Jayne. Their rivalry had already seen controversy, including a number one contender’s match that ended in a draw when Grey scored a pinfall while simultaneously tapping out to Vice’s armbar.
The championship bout opened with a balanced exchange, as Grey relied on her grappling while Vice answered with strikes. The action soon spilled to the outside, where Kelani Jordan attempted to interfere on behalf of Vice. Wren Sinclair quickly ran down to neutralize the situation, engaging Jordan in a brawl up the ramp.
Back in the ring, Vice gained control after taking out Grey at ringside and rolling her back in. She connected with the Three Amigos and set up for a bicycle kick in the corner, but Grey avoided it and shifted the momentum. Grey answered with suplexes and mounted offense, scoring multiple near-falls.
As the match entered its final stretch, Grey dropped the straps and delivered a series of suplexes. Vice managed to counter briefly, but both competitors continued trading control with reversals and submission attempts, including ankle locks, armbars, and rear chokes.
The intensity peaked with rapid exchanges. Vice attempted a guillotine but was countered with a Northern Lights suplex. A spinning backfist from Vice was met by a back elbow from Grey, leading to a double pin attempt that resulted in a two-count.
In the closing moments, Grey climbed to the top rope and executed her Shades of Grey finisher. She followed with the cover to secure the decisive pinfall victory.
Vice’s title reign ends at 86 days, during which she successfully defended the championship five times. Grey now begins her first run as NXT Women’s Champion following a hard-fought win.
