AEW Reveals The MegaProblems as New Tag Team Name – Tony Khan has confirmed a new direction for one of AEW’s rising women’s tag teams.
Marina Shafir and Megan Bayne will now compete under the name The MegaProblems, a label Khan officially announced on social media. The pairing itself came together unexpectedly, but their run in the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament has quickly gained traction.
Shafir was not originally scheduled to team with Bayne. Instead, she was brought in as a replacement after Penelope Ford suffered an injury and was forced to withdraw from the tournament. The new duo wasted no time making an impact, defeating TayJay in their opening-round match and advancing to the semifinals. Their next challenge will be a high-stakes Hardcore Holiday Death Match on the December 3 episode of AEW Dynamite, where they will face the Timeless Love Bombs—Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa.
The stipulation for this semifinal match was determined at Full Gear, where Storm and Shirakawa competed in a four-way bout against Shafir and Bayne, Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron, and The Sisters of Sin. The Timeless Love Bombs won that match, granting them the power to choose the semifinal stipulation. Their choice set the stage for what is expected to be one of the most chaotic women’s tag matches in the tournament so far.
With the tournament moving into its final stages, Dynamite’s December 3 lineup is shaping up to be a major night for AEW. Along with the women’s tag tournament semifinal, the show will feature several Continental Classic matchups. Jon Moxley is set to face Claudio Castagnoli in a Blue League bout, while PAC takes on Kazuchika Okada in a highly anticipated Gold League contest. Kyle Fletcher will also meet Kevin Knight in another Gold League match.
The MegaProblems now step into their new identity with momentum, unpredictability, and a chance to secure a place in the tournament finals. Their rapid rise gives them a compelling edge as the championship race tightens.
