Trick Williams Retains TNA World Title Thanks to AJ Francis & KC Navarro – The June 3rd episode of NXT on The CW featured a crossover main event as Trick Williams defended the TNA World Championship against Mike Santana in a highly competitive and chaotic contest. The match not only highlighted the growing partnership between NXT and TNA but also set the stage for the upcoming Against All Odds special on June 6th.
Before the match began, Santana acknowledged Elijah, seated at ringside, with a respectful fist bump. Elijah is scheduled to challenge Williams for the title this Thursday, and the brief gesture hinted at a mutual respect between the two. That sportsmanship would later be tested, as Trick inserted himself directly into Elijah’s path.
The match itself was intense from the opening bell. Trick backed Santana into the corner and tried to intimidate him with a shove and slap, but Santana responded in kind. Santana hit a face plant and a back senton early for near falls, controlling the pace until Trick shifted momentum with a belly-to-back suplex and a neckbreaker. The two traded heavy shots throughout the bout, including an enzuigiri from Santana and a cyclone kick from Williams that nearly ended it.
The action spilled outside the ring as Santana drove Trick into the announce table and landed a flip dive. Inside the ring, he connected with a corkscrew elbow and a 450 splash, but Trick managed to grab the bottom rope to break the pin.
As the match reached its climax, Trick escalated the tension by grabbing Elijah’s guitar from ringside and smashing it. While the referee was occupied with that distraction, K.C. Navarro and A.J. Francis of First Cla$$ ambushed Santana. Francis chokeslammed him through the announce table, and Trick took advantage by pulling Santana back into the ring to score the pinfall victory.
With the help of outside interference, Trick Williams retained the TNA World Championship and now heads into Against All Odds with major momentum—but also with a target on his back. Elijah, who watched the attack unfold up close, will be looking for payback and championship gold this Thursday.
