Drew McIntyre Confirms He Stormed Out of WWE Royal Rumble Over Frustration – Drew McIntyre confirmed that he left the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 in frustration after his elimination, citing anger over perceived disrespect during the match. He addressed the situation in a recent interview.
Drew McIntyre has addressed the backstage incident that occurred following his appearance in this year’s WWE Royal Rumble, confirming reports that he stormed out of the arena after being eliminated from the match.
Speaking on the Getting Over podcast, McIntyre admitted he was “fuming” after his Royal Rumble appearance and decided to leave the building to avoid acting out in anger. The Scottish Warrior entered the match at number 17 and lasted over 26 minutes before being eliminated by Damian Priest. However, tensions escalated after the match when McIntyre reportedly became upset at one of his fellow participants—believed to be LA Knight—due to a miscommunication during his elimination sequence.
While McIntyre didn’t name anyone directly, he acknowledged his reaction backstage.
“Not all the details are accurate, but yeah, I was fuming (at WWE Royal Rumble), and I let everybody know what I thought, and then I left,” McIntyre explained. “Because I’ve learned as an adult nothing good happens when you’re highly emotional, so just calm down, get the facts, then deal with it.”
The issue, reportedly, stemmed from a situation where McIntyre believed someone was attempting to “get their moves in” during a critical part of the match. That led to confusion and a delay in his elimination spot, forcing a redo.
“For me, it’s just if I ever feel somebody did something disrespectful, went into business for themselves and the likes. That’s when I get frustrated… and sometimes it’s not what it appears on the surface,” McIntyre continued. “If I stayed, I might have punched some people out and been like, oh, actually, it wasn’t their fault. Wakey, wakey.”
Damian Priest, who eliminated McIntyre from the match, later poked fun at the situation in a promo, saying, “Drew complains all the time. He’s always gonna leave the building.” McIntyre responded on the podcast, brushing it off with humor and pointing to his Scottish temperament.
“It’s a couple times in a few years. Considering I’m Scottish, I got an anger problem—that’s not too bad.”
Despite the heated moment in January, McIntyre and Priest are now on a collision course for WrestleMania 41, where they will square off in a singles match on either night of the two-day event at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. WWE has yet to announce which night their bout will take place.
