Cody Rhodes Merchandise Sales Surpass John Cena’s – Fans have attached themselves to Cody Rhodes in a big way. Attendance at shows is still strong even with The Rock’s hiatus and merchandise numbers are doing better than they have in decades.
During a Wrestling Observer Radio over the weekend, Dave Meltzer talked about Rhodes’ popularity and the business numbers suggest that he’s the most popular babyface since the Attitude Era when Stone Cold Steve Austin was doing record numbers.
Meltzer said, “Cody Rhodes outside of the ring is everything. Like he is one of the best babyfaces they’ve ever had and he’s drawing like it too. Look, his numbers are bigger than Cena’s. I mean that would make him the biggest most successful babyface since the Austin-Rock era”
Fightful Select previously reported that an internal memo was sent out in April. The memo stated that Cody sold over $1 million in merchandise during WrestleMania weekend and that number broke his own record from last year.
