Tony Khan Allegedly Holds Grudge Against Jack Perry – According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Tony Khan is reportedly holding a grudge against one of AEW’s top prospects, Jack Perry, following an incident involving CM Punk’s departure from the company.
The incident occurred at AEW All In last August, where Perry and Punk were involved in a physical altercation. Punk had advised Perry against using real glass for a segment on TV, but Perry proceeded with the spot on the windshield of a car, making a reference to glass to the camera. This led to the altercation between the two.
As a result of the incident, Perry was suspended, and Punk was subsequently released from AEW. Despite the fallout, Perry has since begun working with NJPW while still under contract with AEW.
Meltzer did not provide specific details about Perry’s current status with AEW, but it appears that there may be lingering tensions between Perry and Khan due to the incident with Punk.
Meltzer: “He has not been fired. He’s absolutely not been fired, but they’re not using him.”
Alvarez: “He’s just iced.”
Meltzer: “Tony’s really mad at him because he cost him CM Punk. He’s getting the blame. He probably should have been suspended for a month or two. Where are we at, seven months now?…..Seven months. It’s ridiculous. The punishment doesn’t fit the crime at this point. I mean, it’s like it’s his fault because the other guy like lost just mind?”
Alvarez: “I was gonna say I mean he didn’t cost Tony CM Punk. CM Punk cost Tony. CM Punk by getting into a fight over this. Punk could have just got to Tony and said, “Suspend this dude. That was unprofessional and that would’ve been it.”
Perry recently addressed the situation and you can read about it at this link.
