Insights into Mentality of AEW Stars on Collision

Insights into Mentality of AEW Stars on Collision – When AEW Collision initially launched last year, the intention was to center the show around CM Punk, who was exclusive to the program airing every Saturday night on TNT.

However, plans quickly shifted after Punk’s departure just months following the show’s premiere, prompted by a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In.

Since then, AEW has recalibrated the focus of Collision, highlighting a roster of diverse talent including Eddie Kingston, Adam Copeland, and Bryan Danielson.

As Dave Meltzer discussed on Wrestling Observer Radio, the approach among the top stars featured on the show is to elevate newer talent and help them gain recognition. This stands in contrast to AEW Dynamite, where established stars often compete against each other. On Collision, top stars engage with emerging talent who may not typically occupy prominent roles, fostering a platform for growth and exposure.

“Well, the thing with the thing with Bryan Danielson is that like he’s….a lot of things the guys on Collision, with a lot of the guys, is there’s a mentality on that show with the guys who were you know if you want to call them the booker’s of the show or assistant booker’s because Tony’s the booker, but the assistant booker’s of the show, and their mentality is 100% ‘let’s get other people over but we still have to win’ because, you know, they’re key guys, whether it’s Eddie Kingston, Bryan Danielson, can’t lose to hatch Hechicero. But he’s trying to get these guys, whatever it is, a job or whatever,” Meltzer stated.
