Chris Jericho On CM Punk Returning To WWE: “It’s Business As Usual” – Chris Jericho provided insights into the backstage atmosphere at AEW following CM Punk’s surprising return to WWE after a prolonged absence.
Speaking on WFAA, Jericho addressed the reactions within AEW to Punk’s return, emphasizing that within the wrestling industry, such transitions between companies are a part of the business dynamic.
Jericho compared Punk’s return to WWE with other notable signings in the wrestling world, citing instances such as Adam Copeland joining AEW, Will Ospreay signing with the promotion, and the arrivals of Danielson, Moxley, and Adam Cole. He highlighted that these movements between companies are commonplace and are generally taken in stride within the industry.
Jericho expressed a positive perspective on talent mobility, viewing it as a beneficial aspect that strengthens the business as a whole. He emphasized the positive impact on both fans and wrestlers, portraying the concept of talent moving between promotions as a factor that ultimately contributes to fortifying the wrestling industry.
“It’s business as usual. It happens. It’s the same reason why I’m sure there wasn’t a big reaction when Adam Copeland came to AEW or when Will Ospreay signed with AEW or when Danielson, Moxley, and Adam Cole came to AEW. It’s good for the business that guys have the ability to go between companies. It’s great for the fans and it’s great for the talent overall. It just makes the business stronger and that’s the most important thing,” said Jericho.
