Trish Stratus Says “8-Time Champion Sounds Good To Me” – In 2023, Trish Stratus made a notable return to WWE, engaging in a brief run on regular programming. The WWE Hall of Famer took part in a program on Monday Night Raw opposite Becky Lynch, culminating in a steel cage match at WWE Payback.
During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet at the premiere of The Iron Claw movie, which explores the Von Erich dynasty, Stratus reflected on her most recent WWE run. She expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to accomplish things that women were not initially given the chance to do during her time as a full-time competitor. While Stratus did not definitively state that she’s hanging up her boots, she left the door open for future possibilities. Notably, she mentioned the allure of one more run with a Women’s Championship, hinting at the potential for additional chapters in her wrestling career.
“When I embarked on the journey, I came back for WrestleMania, ‘Let’s do this little program.’ Suddenly, heel Trish had to come alive. Then, it just kept going and going. I got to do things I didn’t get to do, right? Ladder Match, Saudi Arabia, Cage Match. To be able to dip my toes into the current landscape and check boxes that I wasn’t able to check back in the day was pretty amazing. Yeah, I mean, I could become an eight-time champ. That sounds good to me. Why not?”
During her most recent run, Stratus was also able to elevate Zoey Stark by Stark’s association with her. Now, Stark is scheduled for her first one-on-one Women’s World Championship opportunity against Rhea Ripley at WWE Survivor Series, the same event where Trish Stratus captured her first WWE Women’s Championship 22 years ago.
