In an interview with Sports Illustrated, White definitively ruled out the possibility of Rousey making a return to UFC for UFC 300, a scheduled event in the spring.
White elaborated on Rousey’s accomplished career, mentioning that she achieved her goals of winning both a UFC championship and a WWE championship. He emphasized that Rousey’s focus has shifted towards starting a family and highlighted her substantial financial success from sponsorships.
“There’s no shot. She’s accomplished everything she set out to do. Her dream was to win a UFC championship, then win a WWE championship, and she’s done it,” says White. “Now she’s starting a family. Ronda has made so much money, and she’s still making a lot of money in sponsorships.”
The speculation initially arose when UFC fighter Chelsea Chandler shared in an interview with MMA Junkie that she had heard rumors of Rousey’s return as a featherweight. However, this was later refuted by Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting.
Rousey’s last UFC fights resulted in consecutive losses, as she was defeated by Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November 2015 and suffered a 48-second TKO loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in December 2016. After a match against Shayna Baszler at a WWE SummerSlam premium live event, Rousey expressed her disinterest in continuing with wrestling, indicating she had no compelling reason to stay in the sport.
