Fans Not Happy With Roman Reigns Retaining Via DQ At Royal Rumble – WWE may have pulled off a decent move by putting Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins as the 2022 Royal Rumble opener. That doesn’t mean it has managed to win the trust of fans.

Fans in attendance and on social media were livid after the match between the Tribal Chief and The Messiah of Drip (who entered the arena to Shield’s music, by the way) ended in controversial fashion, that is, via disqualification.

Reigns had his former Shield brother in a guillotine chokehold towards the end of the match. Though Rollins managed to get a hold of the rope, The Head of the Table refused to let go, resulting in referee Charles Robinson counting it down to five and disqualifying Reigns.

The controversial ending to the much-talked about match left many in crowd and on other internet stunned and confused. Safe to say that many were less than pleased with the ending and took to Twitter to vent out their anger.

The disqualification means that Reigns gets to keep his title, which he hasn’t lost in nearly two years. As for Rollins, the former WWE Champion was beaten to a pulp by Reigns – courtesy of a steel chair.

With this loss, Roman Reigns’ 734-day winning streak came to an end. Reigns hadn’t suffered a loss at a WWE pay-per-view / premium live event since he was eliminated by Drew McIntyre in the 2020 Royal Rumble. Furthermore, Reigns hadn’t lost a singles match at a PPV since losing a TLC Match to King Corbin at the 2019 TLC pay-per-view. That loss to Corbin also marks the last time Reigns was pinned in any sort of WWE match, including at non-televised live events.
