WWE has already confirmed that SummerSlam will take place on Saturday, August 21 “from a summer destination location.” The company noted in a press release the venue will be revealed during the 2021 Belmont Stakes’ pre-race show on NBC this Saturday (June 5).
Former Raw Women’s Champion Asuka took to Twitter to share a photo from inside Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas where the Raiders play. She also attached an emoji along with the photo.
This post has led to a lot of people thinking this will be the location of the event and Asuka posted the photo early by accident. It’s possible that she was at the stadium to film something for the announcement that will air on Saturday regarding Summerslam being held at the venue.
This venue has been the leading candidate for the location of SummerSlam over the past few months.
When it was first reported that WWE was holding SummerSlam on a Saturday instead of its normal Sunday slot, there was speculation as to why WWE would go away from the traditional night of the week for a pay-per-view event.
It was reported last week that Allegiant Stadium wanted this date for the show and while at the time the location of the show had still not been decided on, WWE still went forward with the date. Now, with this photo from Asuka, it seems more likely Allegiant Stadium is the location.
Andrew Zarian from the Mat Men Podcast reported that Cardi B will be the host for SummerSlam. It’s also been reported that WWE wants the main event being Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. John Cena.
