Backstage News on Mauro Ranallo-Corey Graves Situation

As noted earlier, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez spoke about the Corey Graves-Mauro Ranallo situation on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Graves has yet to take down the tweets that were directed at Ranallo, Dave Meltzer, Bryan Alvarez, and Frank Shamrock but Graves issued an apology on his podcast to Ranallo (without mentioning Ranallo by name) and has issued a private apology to Shamrock.

WWE is hoping that Ranallo returns next week but there is no guarantee that he will be back. The one thing that WWE does not want is for Ranallo to leave the company over this situation because it would look bad on them, especially because of their “Be A Star” anti-bullying campaign. Meltzer noted that Ranallo has been in rough shape over the last few days.

As far as Graves, it looks like it will be business as usual for him. In fact, Meltzer pointed out that there are people in the company who support Graves. Meltzer said, “You got to also remember that internally in the company, he was considered the good guy in all of this. That probably tells you a lot about a lot of things.”

I do know that Vince McMahon really likes Graves and McMahon does not have a relationship with Ranallo because McMahon is not at NXT tapings and Ranallo is only around McMahon whenever there’s a major show like WrestleMania where everyone is in town. I know that the feeling among some people in WWE is that Graves is getting much more heat for this situation than he deserves. Others in the company are very sympathetic to Ranallo and feel that Graves should have known better than to take a shot at him in public where people are likely to attack Ranallo after seeing Graves’ tweet.
