The tragic passing of PAC at the age of 40 sent shockwaves throughout the professional wrestling industry, and new details regarding his medical history have shed further light on the circumstances surrounding his death.
PAC passed away on September 27, 2026, just one night after competing against Andrade at AEW All Out. On October 16, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office officially confirmed that his death was ruled natural and caused by bronchial asthma.
Longstanding Health Issues And Prior Complications
While the news of his sudden death stunned fans and peers alike, those close to the former AEW star were reportedly aware of his history with respiratory complications. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that a close friend of PAC shared insights into the wrestler’s prior medical battles during the week of his passing:
He did have lung issues. This is not something that came out of nowhere that nobody knew.
Meltzer added that PAC had also dealt with blood clot complications back in 2023, though it remains unconfirmed whether those previous vascular issues played any underlying role in his final medical emergency.
Questions Surrounding His Final Moments
Discussing the mechanics of severe asthma attacks, Canadian physician Dr. Alex Patel noted that while acute attacks are typically managed with inhalers, severe bronchial inflammation can escalate at a terrifying speed if airways constrict rapidly.
As Wrestlingattitude previously reported, PAC was discovered unresponsive inside a running rental car parked outside a restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois, on the afternoon of September 27. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at 4:08 p.m. Reflecting on the tragedy, Meltzer questioned whether PAC was unable to reach life-saving medication in time:
Unfortunately you know, usually, you know, you would have the inhaler with you, and I don’t know, you know, you know, it may have happened so quick. There was stuff in his car, in the rental car, but he may not have been able to. It may have happened so quick. He wasn’t able to get it.
With new details continuing to emerge, the wrestling community continues to mourn the loss of one of its most elite performers.
