Cody Rhodes believes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson still has a few high-profile encounters remaining in his legendary career, though he acknowledges that any decision to step back inside the squared circle ultimately rests with “The Final Boss” himself.
During an appearance on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Rhodes was asked about the possibility of eventually locking horns with The Rock in a true one-on-one showdown. Addressing their explosive history heading into WrestleMania 40 and the unpredictable fallout that followed, Rhodes admitted that pinpointing the future is difficult given The Rock’s extensive Hollywood schedule and heavy corporate commitments as part of TKO’s Board of Directors.
Comments On Potential Singles Match And Future Return
Rhodes expressed confidence that The Rock still possesses the physical capability to compete, noting that he personally believes the icon has a couple of matches left in him. However, Rhodes also emphasized that given the monumental success of WrestleMania 40, The Rock could easily view that performance as a fitting final chapter in his ring career if he chooses to step away permanently.
“It’s not that I’m evading that answer. It’s that I don’t really know how to answer because I think personally he has a couple of matches probably left to do. I think that personally, but I also know looking at WrestleMania 40 and another guy who he’s given all, continues to give all as part of the Board. He could easily say that was a great final piece as a performer in a wrestling ring. That’ll be up to him”
Regardless of what decision lies ahead, Rhodes made it clear that no wrestler in the industry would ever turn down a marquee match against someone of The Rock’s stature. The rivalry between the two reached dramatic heights on WWE television when Rhodes famously rejected an alliance proposal from The Rock, triggering a chaotic series of events that ultimately led to John Cena’s heel turn at Elimination Chamber.
“That’ll certainly be up to him if there’s more and what those matches might be. I don’t think any wrestler would ever look you in the eye and tell you they wouldn’t want a match like that.”
While no official singles match is currently locked in, Rhodes leaving the door open ensures that a potential showdown between WWE’s top star and “The Final Boss” remains one of the most compelling possibilities in professional wrestling.
