NXT Champion Grayson Waller escaped Halloween Havoc with his title, but CM Punk targeting Waller championship became the night’s biggest story.
Waller retained his NXT Championship against Tony D’Angelo in a physical, chaotic main event that saw Waller attack D’Angelo in front of his wife and son, execute a rolling cutter through the announce table, and ultimately strike D’Angelo with a crowbar while the referee was incapacitated to secure the pinfall.
Waller’s victory celebration was cut short when Halloween Havoc host Danhausen interrupted, paving the way for CM Punk to appear on the screen. Addressing Waller’s frequent claims that NXT belongs to him, Punk declared:
“It might be your house, but I’m the landlord, and the rent is due.”
Packed Wednesday Show Moves Direct Opposite AEW Blood And Guts
Punk confirmed he will appear live on the special Wednesday, November 4, 2026 episode of NXT, which moves from its standard Tuesday slot due to national election coverage.
The announcement further stacks a broadcast loaded with major main-roster firepower as NXT goes head-to-head with AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts. In addition to Punk’s arrival, John Cena is scheduled for a live appearance, while Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will present the Dusty Cup trophy to the winners of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic finals between Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno against Hank Walker and Tank Ledger.
