Two Championship Matches And Contenders Match Set For WWE NXT On September 8

Two Championship Matches And Contenders Match Set For WWE NXT On September 8

Following a massive fallout broadcast on the September 1 episode of WWE NXT on The CW, three major matches have been officially confirmed for the September 8 edition—including two championship defenses and a high-stakes contender’s match.

Kelani Jordan Defends Against Jaida Parker

Fresh off capturing the NXT Women’s Championship from Kendal Grey at NXT Heatwave 2026, Kelani Jordan addressed the crowd to celebrate her milestone victory. Jordan boasted about winning the top prize on her very first attempt, claiming no woman on the roster could outperform her.

Her celebration was abruptly interrupted by Jaida Parker, who reminded the new champion that she had already defeated her in previous competition. Parker demanded an immediate title shot that night. While Jordan refused to put the title on the line on short notice, she accepted Parker’s challenge for next week’s broadcast, setting up her first official title defense.

Jackson Drake Accepts Tavion Heights’ Challenge

Newly crowned NXT North American Champion Jackson Drake will also put his title on the line. The match came together during a backstage segment involving Tavion Heights, who addressed the aftermath of Heatwave, where he lost the NXT Tag Team Championships and was betrayed by his former tag team partner, Myles Borne.

Heights was confronted by Drake and The Vanity Project. When Drake dismissed Heights’ championship pedigree, Heights responded by challenging him directly for the North American Title. Drake accepted the bout, promising to teach Heights a lesson on September 8.

Chaos Erupts Over Grayson Waller’s NXT Title

The main event scene for next week will feature massive six-man tag team action to determine the immediate title picture surrounding new NXT Champion Grayson Waller.

During Waller’s championship celebration, six top contenders—Saquon Shugars, Cruz Montana, EK Prosper, Mason Rook, former champion Tony D’Angelo, and Keanu Carver—flooded the ring, each demanding the next title opportunity.

To resolve the standstill, Carver proposed a structured path to the championship:

  • Step 1 (September 8): A Six-Man Tag Team match involving all six contenders.
  • Step 2 (September 15): The three members of the winning team will face off in a Triple Threat match, with the victor earning the #1 Contender spot against Waller.

Interim NXT General Manager Robert Stone officially sanctioned the proposal. A wild brawl broke out inside the ring immediately following the announcement, leaving the specific team pairings to be announced prior to next week’s broadcast.

Announced Match Card For WWE NXT (September 8, 2026)

  • NXT Women’s Championship: Kelani Jordan (c) vs. Jaida Parker
  • NXT North American Championship: Jackson Drake (c) vs. Tavion Heights
  • #1 Contender’s Qualifier (Six-Man Tag Team Match): Saquon Shugars, Cruz Montana, EK Prosper, Mason Rook, Tony D’Angelo & Keanu Carver (Teams TBD)
