The classic elimination format returns to the autumn spectacle as Rey Mysterio announces Team USA vs Team Mexico for the upcoming pay-per-view in Houston.
Appearing on Stephanie McMahon’s podcast, What’s Your Story?, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed he worked alongside general managers Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis to finalize the special attraction.
Survivor Series – Team USA vs Team Mexico
The announcement marks the return of traditional five-on-five elimination matches to the event, which shifted heavily toward WarGames steel cage fixtures in recent years.
Speaking on the cultural significance of the international showcase, Mysterio outlined how the matchup came together:
“I had a couple of words with Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis, and we are going to put together something very special. A classic five vs. five Survivor Series match at Survivor Series, where it will be Team USA vs. Team Mexico.”
The November 28 event at Daikin Park will highlight the growing influence of lucha libre, though official team lineups remain unconfirmed:
- Unconfirmed Status: Mysterio declined to confirm whether he will actively step into the ring for Team Mexico.
- Roster Speculation: With Mysterio serving as AAA General Manager, speculation suggests Team Mexico could incorporate high-flying talent from both domestic television and allied international partners.
