Tony Khan Says Pending Paramount Skydance And WBD Merger Will "Make AEW Stronger"

AEW President Tony Khan has once again expressed immense optimism regarding the corporate landscape of All Elite Wrestling’s broadcast partners, weighing in on major legal developments surrounding media giant Warner Bros. Discovery.

Following reports on Monday that Paramount Skydance reached a settlement with state regulators regarding its proposed acquisition of WBD, Khan took to an X livestream ahead of the September 23 episode of AEW Dynamite to address what the consolidation means for his promotion:

“I’ve made it no secret, dozens and dozens of times I’ve gone on the record and said, ‘I look forward to a time when hopefully it will be Paramount and Warner Bros. together.’ I think it will make AEW stronger. I’ve said it time and time again. I believe we are very close to that time.”

Speaking live from the Fishers Event Center in Fishers, Indiana—the site of AEW Dynamite’s final three-hour broadcast before AEW All Out—Khan revealed that key executives from Warner Bros. were on-site in attendance. He praised their ongoing collaborative initiatives, including the branded AEW Advance series on TikTok, before offering glowing praise for incoming leadership in Paramount CEO David Ellison:

“This is somebody who loves professional wrestling and loves sports. He’s somebody I’ve worked with in the National Football League, whether it’s NFL Films or now CBS and the great partnership with the NFL. This is a great TV producer. A great film producer, and somebody I think is going to be a great leader for Warner Bros., just like he is for Paramount.”

Khan wrapped up his address by reassuring fans that major shifts across mainstream media will ultimately translate into long-term stability and growth for AEW’s TV and streaming presence.
