The recent press tour made headlines after Roxanne Perez made surprising comments regarding an AJ Lee retirement match, revealing that her ultimate goal is to officially end the wrestling legend’s career in the ring.
“I Would Love To Retire AJ Lee”
Speaking with MuscleManMalcolm, Perez was asked directly if she desires to share the squared circle with former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee. Perez did not hesitate, stating clearly that she wants to be the opponent who brings Lee’s career to a definitive close:
“Yes! 100 percent. I would love to wrestle A.J. Lee and I would love to retire Ms. A.J. Lee. I would love to retire her.”
The Judgment Day Dynamic & Money In The Bank Strategy
Transitioning to her current storyline on WWE television during an interview with Compas On The Beat, Perez addressed the visible friction within The Judgment Day. Perez downplayed rumors of an internal collapse, comparing the faction’s dynamic to a normal family structure:
“Yeah, 100 % and, I think everybody has been able to see the impact that The Judgment Day has made on the main roster over the years. It’s evolved, you know? There may be some tension every now and then, but I feel like families fight. We’ve all had some tension, so let’s be completely real. Everybody’s got in a fight with their family, so of course there’s going to be tension in The Judgment Day.”
When questioned about the potential conflict created by holding the Money in the Bank briefcase, Perez shut down speculation that she might cash in on her faction members. Referencing her past betrayal at the hands of Cora Jade, Perez insisted that backstabbing her friends goes against her core character:
“You know, I think I like my sisters, you know? You know, I really love my sisters. So I wouldn’t ever do anything to stab them in the back. That’s not me. I’ve been stabbed in the back by a well-known person named Cora Jade, now Elayna Black, and that did stick with me. So I think everybody tries to say that, like, I have some… some underlying motives, and I think all I’ve ever done is try to prove myself to the Judgment Day, try to prove to them that I will be there through thick and thin, that I would do anything that the Judgment Day needs me to, and I think I proved that the last year and a half. So it kind of makes me upset when people think that I’m just gonna stab my friends in the back, because I don’t do that.”
